I know it’s been a year but I just wanted to let everyone who’s left know that I’m okay. c:

I’ve set up a (hurrhurr SECRET) blog and feel much happier with it. This blog will remain for the memories and stuff so long as Tumblr doesn’t delete it. I may check in from time to time if you want to leave messages or maybe try to stay in touch, but I won’t be active and I may be selective. And also let’s be honest, it’s been like 11 years of Tumblr I don’t remember who half of you are!  (Hello old Con friends!)

Anyway…just wanted to like. Say I’m okay, that’s all.

I don’t think a lot of people understand that no matter how progressive or well-read you are, there are always going to be moments in your life where somebody pushes back against something that’s so culturally ingrained you never even considered it before. And you’ll say “Huh, it never occurred to me to challenge this but you’re right,” and that doesn’t mean you were “morally toxic” before, it means you’re a non-omniscient human capable of growth.

Also, some preferred terms for things will change and evolve, and terms we prefer now might eventually be considered gauche or even offensive, and that doesn’t mean you were a bigot at the time for using them. It means we evolved as a society and chose new terminology to reflect that change.

Nobody is a fully formed realisation of progressivism that can predict all shifts and modes of thought. The world will always change, and hopefully you will, too

guess what it’s normal to like, want, and enjoy attention. it’s normal, you deserve it, and the sooner you accept that the happier you’ll be also the easier it’ll be to give love and attention to others. I know your brain’s like “but if I allow myself too much I’ll get complacent and selfish”, but actually no, and also fuck that, stop wasting energy trying to make yourself sadder. if you have trouble filtering or forget about others’ needs sometimes, I get wanting to work on that but goddamnit it doesn’t have to come at the price of eclipsing your personality and passions!! hey!!!!
